My Story: From Struggling Runner to RUNMAXX

I Trained Harder. I Got Slower.

Five years ago, I was just another high school runner chasing a breakthrough. I wanted to be great, and I was willing to work for it. But no matter how much effort I put in, I was getting slower instead of faster.

I trained hard—sometimes too hard. I pushed through fatigue, ignored the warning signs, and convinced myself that working more was the answer. But my body wasn’t responding. Races felt like I was running through quicksand. My legs were dead before the gun even went off. Workouts that used to feel easy suddenly felt impossible.

I thought I just wasn’t good enough.

What I didn’t know at the time was that I had severe iron deficiency. My body was literally running on empty, but I had no idea. Instead of fixing the root problem, I kept grinding myself into the ground, wondering why my times kept getting worse as my effort increased.

I had no clue how to structure my training properly.
✔ I lacked the knowledge to understand why my body wasn’t responding.
✔ I kept getting injured, burning out, or underperforming when it mattered most.
✔ My mindset was weak—I second-guessed myself, crumbled under pressure, and questioned if I even had what it took.

The turning point came when I stopped blindly working harder and started working smarter. I took a step back and decided to truly understand the science of performance.

I learned how to structure my training so that every session had a purpose.
